That contributed to the $1.39 billion in total shipments sent to Thailand during the period, up 0.5 per cent year-on-year.

Other commodities also recorded solid growth, such as vehicles and spare parts (25 per cent); electronic products and components (15 per cent); other machinery, equipment and spare parts (7 per cent); and crude oil (5 per cent).

In March alone, Vietnam sold $554.22 million worth of goods to Thailand, rising 16 per cent from the previous month.

Vietnam and Thailand have been facilitating bilateral economic co-operation with the aim of reaching $20 billion in two-way trade turnover this year.

The two countries have created favourable conditions for businesses to increase investment and business cooperation as well as to facilitate agricultural import and export activities.
