Push to kickstart Australia's ravaged seafood export trade amid coronavirus restrictions

Travel bans imposed due to the coronavirus pandemic have dealt major blows to seafood exporters, as well as producers of red meat, dairy products and some horticulture items due to the cancellation of the majority of long-haul flights out of Australia. The government of Australia will work towards creating a new freight assistance mechanism that would recommence shipments to China, Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore and the United Arab Emirates, which will help the seafood export trade of Australia.
Australian fresh seafood exporters have also been affected by a decrease in demand from key export markets, particularly China, which is a significant buyer of fresh seafood from Australia.
