India Request Its FTA Partners to Temporarily Allow Imports Without a Certificate of Origin

Due to the lockdown imposed in India due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, domestic authorities in India are not currently issuing Certificated of Origin. Therefore, the Indian government has requested its FTA partners, which include ASEAN, Singapore, South Korea, Japan, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Malaysia, to temporarily allow the import of goods from India without a Certificate of Origin. The certificates will be issued retrospectively after the offices are reopened. Trading partners are kindly requested to allow eligible imports under preferences on a retrospective basis subject to the subsequent production of the certificates of origin by the Indian exporters.
