Price controls are to be enforced on big onions imported to Sri Lanka, with effect from 23^rd February, 2020. This comes after the price of imported big onions shot up within just a few days to 300 rupees per kilogram on 22^nd February, 2020. The maximum retail price for a kilogram of big onions will be capped at 190 rupees

Economynext reported in an article published online earlier today that the Sri Lanka Consumer Affairs Authority had publicized the control enforced by the Sri Lankan government in a statement.
